When does the Services Directive enter into force?Even though Member States have a transposition deadline of three years, which ends on 28 December 2009, the Services Directive has already been in force since 28 December 2006.This means that certain obligations are already in effect. As of December 2006, Member States must abstain from adopting any new regulations that may go against the provisions of the Directive, and they will be bound to notify the European Commission of any change or modification. This concerns national, regional and local regulations.
