European Union Treaties
La Unión se fundamenta en el Tratado de la Unión Europea y en el Tratado de Funcionamiento de la Unión Europea (en lo sucesivo denominados «los Tratados»). Ambos Tratados tienen el mismo valor jurídico. La Unión sustituirá y sucederá a la Comunidad Europea (Artículo 1 del Tratado de la Unión Europea).
The European Union is based on the rule of law, meaning that all its activities are the result of
treaties, voluntarily and democratically agreed upon by all the Member States. The treaties have been amended and updated in order to adapt them to the evolution of society.
