Royal Decree 355/2018, of 6 June, restructuring the ministerial departments created the Ministry of Finance. This Royal Decree has been implemented in relation to the Ministry by Royal Decree 595/2018, of 22 June, which establishes the basic organisational structure of the ministerial departments.
By means of Royal Decree 1113/2018 of 7 September, which develops the basic organic structure of the Ministry of Finance, the structure and duties of the Ministry of Finance are regulated.

The Ministry of Finance is the department of the General State Administration which is responsible for proposing and carrying out the Government's policies in terms of public finance, budgets, spending and public enterprises, in addition to the rest of competences and powers conferred by the Legal Order. Likewise, the application and management of regional and local funding systems fall under the remit of this Ministry, as well and the provision of information on the economic-financial activity of the different Public Administrations.
